Giving a Chinese Grandpa his First Chinese Meal in 80 Years
The Chinese-Cuban community is small, yet it holds a very heartfelt story. In this video, we traveled to Havana, Cuba, to meet a Chinese-born Cuban named Andres Wong. He is 90 years old and grew up mostly in Cuba. Over the past six decades, the Chinese-Cuban community has drastically declined, leaving Andres as one of the few surviving Chinese-Cubans in the country. He hadn’t had Chinese food in many years, so we brought him some.
As the producer of this video, I contacted Chinese-Cuban clubs to connect with individuals like Andres, coordinated logistics for travel and filming, and managed all communication.
I also served as the videographer for this project.
